I am a graduate from Wesley College where I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and from Loyola University Maryland where I obtained a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling (which is the same as counseling, but I am able to assess the spiritual aspect of a person as well).
At Loyola I learned about substance abuse, motivational interviewing, therapeutic approaches, therapeutic relationships, person-centered treatment planning, diversity, and more. In addition to my experience inside Loyola, I also have a wealth of clinical experiences. During my time with the Cancer Support Community I co-facilitated groups every week, including a closed grief and bereavement group. At Safe Harbor Christian Counseling, I was at Penn North, an addictions treatment center in Baltimore. While there, I was able to see first-hand how counseling people with dual-diagnoses was done. At the Robert A. Pascal center, I provided 1:1 counseling with a varied group of clients with a number of different diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, and addiction.
I provided services at Psychotherapeutic Treatment Services as the day program coordinator, previously holding the titles of lead group facilitator and community living specialist. In addition to case management, I also created all of the psychoeducational groups including such topics as Health and Wellness, Social Skills, Art Expression, Symptom Management, and Independent Living Skills. I also supervised other community living specialists including monitoring their documentation, providing trainings, leading meetings, and assisting with hiring. At Upper Bay Counseling and Support Services I traveled to various elementary, middle, and high schools and provided counseling to children and their families. I also performed the duties of an Intake Counselor, performing several intakes per week for adults and children. During my time at the Community Wellness Center in Baltimore, MD I worked as an intake counselor and a mental health counselor. In addition to providing services at the main office, I drove to individual houses and apartments to provide services in the community.
I am currently providing services at Holistic Elevation LLC as the Intake Specialist. I believe we’re all part of the human family and each one of us has a responsibility to help one another in whatever way possible and appropriate. Holistic Elevation is an agency that understands the importance of helping one another by providing quality mental health services. We assess areas an individual is struggling through a variety of different lenses, such as mental, social, financial, physical, and spiritual and offer the tools for individuals to create their own solutions. When empowering individuals we service a community and when servicing a community we empower individuals. I am blessed and grateful to be part of such a great team of compassionate individuals - individuals who are compassionate towards people and passionate about change!
